Privacy Policy


Your Personal Data and Leeds Geological Association (LGA)

 


Your confidentiality is protected by the Data Protection Act and, from 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2016 (PECR). Personal information supplied by you to LGA will be kept on file and stored securely. The data will be deleted once it is no longer relevant.

When you fill in Membership Application and Gift Aid forms you are asked to provide LGA with some Personal Data, being your name and postal address, email address together with home telephone and mobile numbers. We also ask you to consent to the ways in which we may communicate with you. You may amend or withdraw any of those consents at any time by contacting the LGA Hon Secretary. Your data will be deleted immediately when you cease to be a member, as will copies of your instructions regarding that data. However, Gift Aid Declarations will be kept for seven years after someone ceases to be a member, as required by Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs.

Communication

We will use the data to provide the service that you expect as a result of your membership of LGA and will communicate with you in the way(s) you have agreed. The data we hold will be used to send you notices of lectures, field trips, membership renewal and subscription information, geological news and geological events held by LGA and other organisations, your copy of the annual Field Visit Reports and Annual General Meeting and Special General Meeting information. We will also use it to apply for Gift Aid where you wish us to do so.

Accessibility

LGA will only share your data if required to do so by law, for example with Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs in relation to relation to Gift Aid. We will never share your information with other organisations, companies or charities for marketing or other purposes.

You have the right of access to a copy of the information we hold about you (a subject access request) obtainable, subject to proof of identity, from the LGA Hon Secretary (contact details in the latest newsletter and Programme of Lectures, email: ).

You have the right to object to the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) if you feel that LGA is not handling your data in a satisfactory manner.

Website

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) when you visit the website.

Strictly Necessary Cookies. Cloudflare, who provide a service to facilitate secure (HTTPS) connections to this website, set a single cookie (name: __cfduid). This cookie is necessary for the functioning of the site and does not contain any PII. It is a session cookie that expires after 30 days. Cloudflare are deprecating use of this cookie on May 10th 2021: it will no longer be set and the last cookies will expire 30 days after that.

Other Cookies. The website does not use any other cookies.

Data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and the LGA cannot guarantee the security of data. The website contains links to other websites. The LGA is not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third party websites.
